Summary: At least 49 villages around Isimba Hydropower Plant in Kayunga District have been connected to electricity. The connections are part of the Community Development Action Plan (CAP), an initiative by the Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) that seeks to mitigate some of the social challenges that arose from the development of Isimba Dam in communities of Kayunga and Kamuli Districts.

Summary: The Government is set to undertake a policy shift that will make Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) accessible and cheap for everyone. As part of the plan, the Government seeks to introduce free TVET programmes in all public institutions, just like it is with the Universal Primary Education and Universal Secondary Education in public schools. Students under the universal TVET programme will study for free, with the Government meeting all the costs.

Summary: Smallholder farmer groups in 69 poverty-stricken and semi-arid Districts have been selected to benefit from a UGX. 1.3 trillion project aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change on agriculture. Funded jointly by the World Bank and the Government, the project will also include farmers in seven refugee-hosting districts.

Summary: The Government of Uganda has signed a contract with an Egyptian firm, SAMCO National Construction Company, to build a 20,000- seat Akii Bua Olympic Stadium in Lira City. The stadium project will cost $129 million (UGX. 470b) and is scheduled for completion within 20 months.

Summary: The Ministry of Works and Transport, through the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, has issued early road safety guidelines to motorists and other road users as the country heads to the festive season. These guidelines are intended to limit the number of road crashes.
Among them, motorists have been advised to plan their journeys and have enough time, avoid drunk driving, and avoiding speeding.
