Summary: The Government has ordered Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as district Local Govemments, to delete 4,148 civil servants off the January payroll. Under the Public Service system, deactivation from a payroll implies that you are not eligible to receive a salary. Once implemented, the Government is expected to save at least UGX 2.5b in monthly salaries. The affected staff include the 2,967 government employees from 163 MDAs who did not turn up for the second government validation and headcount of workers that was conducted last year.
